I was gifted some buckskin scraps from a friend and decided to make a new hunting bag. I found a style that I liked on Cowan's Auction site of an original mid 19th c. style elongated D shaped bag.

Mine measures out to 5.5" x 9.5"

I scalloped the top edge of the bag down for reinforcement and stitched it in place (haven't taken that picture yet....) and added an inside pocket.

This is the hunting knife that I forged for the bag out of an antique file and pinned it in place to a white tail tine handle with two iron rivets. The sheath was reinforced at the tip with additional buckskin and stitched every couple of inches to the bag to keep it in place. The antler measure is still a work in progress.

I made the shot bag out of some of the remaining buckskin scrap and use it for #00 buckshot. I plan on making a couple more: one for birdshot and one for roundball for my 20 bore fowler.

I will make the strap out of some veg tan and attach it to the bag shortly.
Thanks for looking.
