I'm fairly new to the ML Forum (and I may be posting this in the wrong category), but I am looking for suggestions/craftsmen regarding the fabrication of a brass pistol belt hook for an all metal "Murdoch-style" Scottish ramshorn flintlock pistol. I posted some pix in an earlier posting about a month ago, but what I basically am doing is modifying one of the repro Indian/Pakistani versions made over the past few decades with a more historically-correct version from the early half of the 18th Century. I would like to replace the approximate 6.5" all-steel OEM belt hook (see the attached pic) with a slightly longer version in brass. I tried fabricating my own about 10 years ago out of a solid brass rod (see attached pic), but came up short, especially when trying to get the appropriate curved tension on the belt hook. I don't mind modifying an existing brass belt hook that may already be out there/available, but I need a larger surface area at the posterior end to fabricate the pierced panel design complementary to Gaelic-style design elements. If anyone knows of a craftsman that can either provide a cast or machined brass belt hook that fits my query, or has any modification suggestions, please let me know - I will be happy to provide photos from original pistols, etc. for a better understanding of what I am attempting to achieve.
