Brass casting flaws

Check out the voids and slag in this butt plate:

As usual it's in the worst place it can be. I hit it with the belt sander, and the deeper I go the worse it gets. It doesn't seem to be all the way through, but how deep to I need to go - paper thin LOL? Any way, just venting, I hate casting flaws.

Uhhh... yeah..., I don't like traffic jams and I like creeks, and I generally like to keep moving... Thanks for the input (I think)...


Back to the original subject, I took it down below the voids on the belt sander and it's pretty thin - prob too thin to get a good countersink on the screw hole. I'll just get another one.

Next time fill with solder and dress down, just like the original guys did.
