I recently received a barrel in .45 caliber 1" ATF that needs a breechplug. It has been bored about 9/16ths on one end to about 3/4 inch depth. I figure 5/8ths by18 thread pitch should work fine, the question is will a standard flint breechplug tang be tall enough for the barrel flat? If not, would silver soldering a slice of steel on top of the tang be acceptable? I have another barrel breeched that is about a 16th" lower than the barrel (round). Same question. Thanks in advance, guys. Geo.
