IM in my home stretch on my build.
Left hand Tennessee Mountain rifle and was adjusting my flint in my lock and went to cock the hammer and snap!
This really upsets me. I have CVA, and Tradition guns and my best lock breaks while IM fitting the flint. Its a Siler lock.
I hate setbacks.

You mean the main spring?

These are easily order through Track or any number of vendors.

Yes the main spring.
Other than playing with it on the work bench its had no stress.
I was lining the pan up to figure where to drill my touch hole and cocked the hammer and this sickening snap.
I didnt realize this thing was so delicate.
It snapped about an inch from where its pinned.
Would this be under any type of warranty I wonder?

If you bought it from Jim Chambers, just send it back and he'll make it right.

They generally are not so delicate. Things may have happened that contributed such as file marks on the side of the spring creating a weak point to begin the break, having something out of line, overstressing the spring by pulling past its normal point, a sharp impact...

Just things to consider.

Also it may have been cast with some slight imperfection and doomed from its manufacture.

Some vendors will help you and others give you the YOYO (You're On Your Own)

This is where the extra money to a reputable supplier comes home to the spender.

On the other hand, the springs are not that expensive and are readily available. Buy 2 and you will never need the second. :)

I contacted MR. Chambers and he said he will replace it free. The one bad thing about finding a spring from other vendors is, its a left hand spring. IM lucky if they have a left hand lock at all. The only parts I could find were total rebuild kits for $75 for a lefty.
