Not sure what the things are called that hold the barrel into the stock, but my gun slid down and cracked the wooden stock near the front barrel pin, after removing the pins to fix the stock, I discovered that the front barrel staple was broken, can anyone give me suggestions on how to repair this.. Thanks

If it is a wire staple, I had one break on my rifle and I braised it back together on the barrel, using oxy/acetalene. It took a couple of trys before I got it but it is still holding after 4 yrs.

If your rifle uses pins, another option might be to have someone who has worked on muzzleloaders cut off the barrel staple, dovetail in a solid barrel lug and drill it through the old holes in the stock. There's probably many ways to fix it. The front barrel lug only has to support the front of the stock, so it doesn't bear much weight.
