Yes it’s a cut down French musket. Thank youIs it a smoothbore?
Neat to have a gun that’s good for treerats and buff
The tack work is actually glass beads, not brass tacks. The gun is old, but is a recent alteration based on two original native gunsIt makes me think it was used by one of the indigenous people. The butt stock is shaped like a war club. The overall length looks short for ease of loading on horse back while riding.
And the beautiful tack work adds to the overall appearance.
That is even better than tacks. My old eyes thought were tacks. Thanks for the info. The tack work is actually glass beads, not brass tacks. The gun is old, but is a recent alteration based on two original native guns

Original musket, but in relic condition. Now workableoriginal or repo.?
Yep. It was really in sh*t order. I got a gunsmith to work it over for me and then did some work myself and this is what came out. Not everyone’s thing, but I love it. Thanks for lookingthat is great! thank you for the reply. sort of like repurposing it?!
Sorry, forgot to answer. Please read my other replies. ThanksThat’s a neat piece! Any story behind it?
It’s based on native american original pieces. The butstock has been cut awayIn my eyes, it almost looks Middle Eastern with that stock shape. Just my opinion. Very cool.
