Howdy folks:
Here's that Buffalo Skinner that showed up in my Roach Belly photo post. I finally got it all done.
See what y'all think? I believe that I'm gonna' list it, but I'm not sure yet? I have a few guys interested already.
This is no small knife? The blade is 6-1/4" long and 1-3/4" wide, 3/32" thick 1095 high carbon steel. The overall length is 10-1/8"
The handle is spalted Maple with 3 iron pins.
My signature Mountain Man style sheath is 5/6 oz. top quality vegetable tanned leather, all hand stitched by me. I did a custom mix of colors to come up with the finished look. The sheath is oiled and waxed, X stitched and has 3 Genuine Buffalo Teeth adorning it. NO self respecting Buffalo Hunter wouldn't love to carry this knife. So, if your persona is Buffalo hunter, then this is the knife for you. I still need to sign the sheath and stamp my logo on it.
Please let me know your thoughts, thank you.
God bless:
Two Feathers

That is a fine looking knife & sheath. Bet someone will be proud to own it. I have made a lot of knives with 1095 and it's very good steel, easy to sharpen and keeps an edge, but lately I use 5160 or 80CRV2.
bdp303:
Thank you. I've tried 80CRV2 but I found it to be too Finicky if you don't have computerized heat treating equipment, at least for me!. I've been HT'ing 1095 by eye for 50+ years and my knives are as hard as any mass produced knives out there. NO ONE has ever complained about my blades hardness. :thumb:

I do the same heat treat as you do with 1095. For the 80CRV2, I heat to nonmagnetic, quench in 140 degree peanut oil and immediately put the blade in a 400 degree toaster oven for 2 hours that is dedicated to the shop. The only reason I have used 80CRV2 is a friend who is a master bladesmith gifted a couple of pieces to me.

Two Feathers, that a fine looking knife and sheath. You do make a fine blade my brother.
Looking forward to using my
Roach Belly this season.

Howdy Fred:
Thank you for your kind words. I'm hoping it lives up to it's reputation? :~)))
If you need anything, you know where to find me.
