Can any of you folks provide any references for a builder named Larry Cruise?

I see some of his work on TOTW - looks good to me and I'm even considering one of his guns. I can't find anything online about him. Any professional opinions?

Maestro,
Not for positive, but I think this is the Cruise you are looking for.
Cruise, Larry

Just look up people in the white pages of Nebraska. The Cruise brothers make nice guns!

Boy! There has been a little time span since I saw a Cruise rifle. When you get to my age it all kind of mulls together. Know what I mean? If I am a remembering correct, flint long rifles, with the wood patch box. Not too sure of the school though. I want to say Beck for g-smith, but not sure.

I don't know anything about flame tempering, but I once read that if wood is boiled that it draws the sap out and refines the wood.I don't know why we always try to improve on the methods used by the people who really knew wood,Most of the pioneers knew the correct use for each type of wood and its best application.I guessit wouldn't be human nature if we didn't try.

I must disagree, our fore fathers were great at "making do". It wasn't a matter of correct wood or correct anything, it was trial and error for the most part. If they needed a rifle stock and no maple, they used walnut or some other wood that was available. Heck, raw hide was as good as anything in a pinch to repair a stock. They did what they did to get by. Just folks feeding their familys and doing what they had to do. Kinda like what we do today, just more modern. Gotta love them for that.
