Perhaps a dumb question, but does anyone know of a source for plans for a builder's vise sufficiently long for a 58" stock ?
I would like to be able to rotate the stock similar to a checkering cradle. Most of the ones I have found are about 36" long, so I decided to try to build my own.
I have made a rotating butt stock holder (aluminum) and a front-end stock/barrel holder but am trying to figure out an adjustable 72" base
that would securely hold guns ranging from 42" to 60" l.o.a.
At the moment, I guess the best idea would be a
square steel/aluminum tube with holes drilled thru the sides and some sort of aluminum upright that would slide along the tube and lock thru the holes.
Would appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks
Paul
