Bullet Casting and Moulds

I hope it is right to post this in the accuracy department.

I ve got two questions:

Is it right that RAPINE moulds are no longer available because the company closed?

They say Mr. Rapine retired bit I found no proof for this information.

My questions belongs to the shape of bullets.

At the NEI Website I found this strange bullet, I think it isn´t made for a muzzleloader but for a BPCR.

However, I never saw such a strange shape before.

Does anyone know about such a kind of bullet ???

He's still in business. I bought 2 molds off of him just a few months ago. I don't have his number handy but if you do a search on this site for "Rapine" I'm sure you can turn it up.

The design is(was?) called a "WASP WAIST". The theory was it would have a better ballistic coefficient than a bullet of a similar design with parallel sides.
I don't think that ever proved to be the case.

Wasp Waist, well look at the second generation jet fighters, F-102, F-106, even the F-4 viewed from above have a "Coke bottle" shape to them. Was supposed to give some aerodynamic improvement, not sure it worked the now generation fighters sure don't have that shape.

I feel that bullets for precision muzzleloaders and bpcr are close together.

And a lot of designs that look and sound logically don´t work at the range.

If you look at the people that won the matches - they often use what has been used since a few hundred years.

Quite strange if you consider the modern computerized high tec plants!!

Here´s new design from Dan Theodore. It´s meant for a bpcr but the desing might help to make loading into a muzzleloader much easier an more accurate giving better results at the target.

What do you think about it ?
