Has anyone familiar with MOOSESMOULDS?, I have called a couple time and sent email, no reply. Maybe out of town or what
looking for a mold for a repo Sharps 54 Black Powder
Thanks, Packrat

I have a Sharps '59. It fires a B I G elongated ball of about 13 to the pound (525g) I also fire a round ball from it. I got Larry Callahan Bag molds to make a .541 ball mold. works reall well. For the elongated, I got a Pedersoli mold. I sure would like to have a period correct mold for it one way or the other. You knw I would!

I hope my info helped you, as well as I m hope n someone can advise on a moldmaker for a traditional Sharps elongated ball mold.

Thanks to all for your replies. I'm back to the drawing board, I have a 54 caliber hollow base mold, tried that, my first shot broke the fore arm, now I need to find one or make one. The trials and happiness of shooting, gotta love it

Moose's Molds If you can make contact, he has two molds, one the Christmas Tree ring tail the other is the Sharps Ringtail. Just given new phone # 267-576-0362
Good luck and happy shooting, Packrat

He actually has 4 the fourth is a bagdon design that several of use got him to cut for use. It’s a semi wad cutter design. Shoots real well not sure if it’s in his catalog or not. I’ll post a picture of it at some point. Things are in disarray at the moment. Moved everything from out apartment to my weekend place.short story new owner of the house wanted our stuff out of the basement so he could renovate it. We will be retiring in June and moving out of the apt.

Moose is still in business. Use the new phone number.

His molds are excellent quality.

I use his Guy France bullet in my Sharps. It doesn't have a tail and is a bit tedious to make into cartridges but it shoots exceptionally well and the mould is very high quality and easy to use.

Maybe to hot if a load, thought it was about 90 grains, was closer to 115
Recoil was not bad, fir me, but the wooden firearm split, was able to glue back together, all is goof
Tried to get in contact with Moosesmolds, didn’t want to buy the Italian, Pefersoli, Dixie has for $194, I did order some ringtail from Dixie just to get by
