Bullet starters?

I purchased the long starter for pistols from TOW and that is all I use now.

Track does have some nice ones.

Laminated cherry and walnut ball starter with cherry 70 grain powder measure.

Drilling a hole gives me the powder part in about a minute. Then break out the wood lathe chisels. This takes a while. Still needs a lanyard hole drilled in it.

Trapper butt cap makes it purdy.

Antler. Drill press. Drill. Fill with powder. Check with powder measure. Drill more until desired volume.

I’ve made a few and use one now. Not sure what I am missing there. It’d take me fifteen minutes tops for whatever powder charge I needed.

Thank you. I make mine in a Tee shape and if I drill too deep into the "end" of the antler I may hit the shaft of the starter. That's all I meant by "a bit more to it than just drilling it out for powder." Sorry if it sounded like I was coming of as making it Rocket Science? Yep, I can crank out a powder measure in 10 minutes or less, BUT putting one in the end of MY ball starters, does take a bit of planning?

My ball starter came in a CVA shooting kit almost 40 years ago. It's just a round wood ball, with a Barss nib to start the ball in the muzzle and a 4" piece of brass rod to drive it short.

Much easier to use a tad looser ball/patch combo you can start with thumb pressure, in case of mishap or foul weather it is very much easier to pull the ball and save the powder and lead.

what did you use to cone your barrels? I want to do mine.

I would shoot conicals, maxi ball or hornady great plains. I have two T/C hawkens that are rifled the same.
