I think he means a peep sight, or sometimes called a aperture sight, or even a receiver sight.

Which by the way are basically a "donut" you look through and center your front sight in . . .
 
Thanks, that is what I was also "thinking". But we don't know for sure. If he doesn't know what he has it is impossible to give and answer that will be on target. A pic would help us to help him.
 
He maybe talking about those "Marbles Bullseye" sight that is made for lever actions. It is a standard Marbles rear sight with an elevator that instead of having a buckhorn notch it has a big circle with a little circle inside of it.
