Howdy folks:
Two Feathers here with a new item. This is the one you want when you need a fire but you just don’t feel like dragging out the flint and steel, and there’s sun shining. The price is $25.00 + $4.00 s&h. All in USD$’s to any of the 50 united states.
I think Hugh Glass; Jim Bridger, or Jeramiah Johnson probably had one of these?
There’s not really a lot to say about it, the photo pretty much says it all.
It’s a 1-5/8” diameter Magnifying lens; cased in leather, with 1-7/16” of exposed lens. It measures 2-5/16” across the outside, roughly? This item is as period correct as I can make it. It’s completely hand made by me from 5oz. vegetable tanned leather. It is hand stitched with natural color artificial sinew. It’s dyed Brown, and has an attached 17” soft Buckskin thong for hanging around your neck. The magnification lens was invented by Roger Bacon in 1250 AD and used throughout history. The Magnifying Glass also known as Hand Lens, is a convex lens which is used to produce a magnified image of an object; or intensify the sun’s rays. It has been used to start a much needed camp fire, locate an annoying splinter, or read small print. It has the “rustic look” of being hand crafted by a Mountain Man in his cabin in the Rockies during the Fur Trapper era.
I hope you find it interesting and a worthwhile purchase. This item is handmade by me. It's very labor intensive, and NOT manufactured in some third world country. Please buy American. Support our local Craftsmen.
