Hey! That is nice.

I have seen that style described as a French style chef's knife.
apparently the style has been popular for a few hundred years.

Enjoy!

After a closer look , with my glasses on  i see it is wood, very dark wood. :)

:rotf: :rotf: Not laughing at you laughing with you, cause I know that feeling bro!
Nice find though, looks like descent steel. The name does ring a bell but can't place it.

Joseph Tyzack and Son were in business from 1837 till they merged with Isaac Nash in 1951.

That`s cool, a lot of things seem to be getting more difficult :haha:
Rebel727 that makes it a fairly old knife.
Wondering if i should leave as is or grind it down a little narrower???

French chef's knife, a good one at that. Sheffield steel/knife works. If you don't like it send to me, I'll report on the worthiness of it.

those are often refered to as sabatier's. i think its a manufactuers name as well as a model. i have tried to win several of those on ebay since rebuilding one for a friend. they usually run from 45 to over a hundred for certain models and shapes. 4 bucks was a helluva steal.

Hey Lenn, It looks like a dandy to me. and for four bucks you can't go wrong. Did you have any particular thoughts of a shape if you were to re-do it?

snagg

Well geeeez guys you mean i actually made a good deal for once :haha:
Thanks guys, maybe i should leave it as is if it`s kinda rare. Maybe make a sheath for it or were those kind of knives only used for the camp needs ?
