Hello All,

I am looking for steel molds for pouring my own pewter buttons. I re-enact Rev War, and need to create my own buttons, and engraved buttons with 'USA' & '4BP'. I can engrave them, just looking for a source.
Thanks in advance.

back when I had my lathe set up, i made a button mold. It worked pretty good but was slow because I didn't include a way to attach handles. depending on what you want, a button mold isn't hard to make If you want a button with the little ring on the back and a design on the front, it will require about twice as much machining and a three piece mold.
heres a link to a design drawing for a three piece mold. http://home.roadrunner.com/~cvigil/casting/three-piece_mold_design(button-pin).bmp it wouldn't be much for a machinist to make in a short time

Thanks.

The only thing missing on the mold designs are the pivot points to allow smooth operation. I'm guessing a hinge on the split molds that also locates the lower or button part of the molds.

I could machine that, but I was hoping to find something ready to use. No hassles.

Thanks for the info. ( again)

You're right, but as I said, I could machine it, just want to save some time if I can.
