I just sold one of my C&B revolvers to a fellow member that happens to live in New York state. Does anyone know if their laws allow me to ship the revolver directly to his home address, or do I need to ship to a FFL? Thanks.
Not so -- You can't send a black powder pistol to an individual in NJ - it HAS to go to an FFL first and be registered as a firearm to that individual and there are other states also - have a look at the Cabelas web site and see if they will sell a cap & ball pistol or even a BB pistol to a person in NJ? I know because I lived there for 48 years.Paul_R said:Federal law allows you to ship a C&B revolver directly to any individual in any State.
As a private individual,You are under no obligation to obey any State laws other than your own. It's up to the receiving individual to be compliant with any State and local regulation.
If you are an FFL you are obligated to obey all state laws as a condition of your license.
