I am curious if the CVA will handle a pumpkin ball very well. I have shot buck and ball, but a little shy about stuffing a .710 with 60 grains down the barrel.

Why not? It most likely weighs less than the shot you have been using and 60 grains of 2 or 3 f is a light load for a 12 gauge.

Whatever goes down the bore will come back up it in a ML and Round balls are lighter than shot loads. Folks think they are heavy loads because the kill bigger animals but are no more stressfull on the gun than shot. Keep the powder load sensible for the gun.

Yeah, makes sense about the weight. 60 is a light load, convinced me to give it a try. thanks. Kind of stupid, I guess, just never tried it.
