Cabela's Blue Ridge and Pedersoli Frontier

Hello, I am new to this forum. I have acquired a .50 caliber Cabela's Blue Ridge Flintlock. It is missing its ramrod, thimbles, thimble/barrel mounting screws, hammer jaw screw, and the vent. I was wondering if the Blue Ridge rifle (Pedersoli) and the Pedersoli Frontier rifle have some of these interchangeable parts. Looking at the diagrams, they appear to come apart the same way. Also, does anyone know where I can purchase the listed parts? Thank you very much for any help and I love this forum already!

The Cabela's Blue Ridge and the Pedersoli Frontier are the same gun, Cabela's simply markets it under a Cabela's name.

I ordered a percussion Blue Ridge in .32 several years ago, and the box it came in said "Frontier." :grin:

I don't know why the parts wouldn't be completely interchangeable. Good luck with it and enjoy your gun.

The parts are interchangeable, since they are the same rifle sold under different names.

You would have some luck in finding parts by contacting VTI or Flintlocks Etc.

But at $29.00 for a ramrod, and $13.50 for a top jaw screw, the price of those parts is gonna add up pretty fast.

IMHO, you can make your own ramrod for a whole lot less. The other parts you mentioned aren't listed. Good luck in finding them.

You might try to email pedersolli ( I'm not sure of that spelling) anyway tell them what you have and what you need they may help you or even supply those parts . You never know they may suprise ya .

As mentioned, the Blue Ridge and the Frontier are the same rifle. Those sold by Cabela's has the Blue Ridge name on it. Parts at VTI are rather pricey. I have a .45 Blue Ridge flinter that I got 15 years ago. The ram rod is an odd size, 9mm. They offer one at Track of the Wolf. I wanted an unbreakable ram rod, so I ordered this one from Cain's Outdoors last night: http://www.cainsoutdoor.com/shop/item.asp?item=18085 . Put that rifle together. You're going to enjoy it :thumbsup:

I don't know if I'm preaching to the choir, but please don't be tempted to shortcut ramrod construction through the use of a dowel, as the way they're cut (grain) promotes breaking under end-to-end compression.

There are several good sources of split Hickory ramrod blanks available, that just need finishing & end(s).

I made a brass ramrod for one of my guns once that worked very well as the barrel was light and the extra weight was usefull, you can buy brass stock from most NAMP stores and pin/epoxy the end on.This probably does not meet and pC/HC standards but works well and the heavy Brass rod put even a very tight load down with authority and little effort.probably not the type of rod to shoot out of the barel, it could be catastrophic.
