I just finished making a "camp" knife. I used a piece of steel from a Jeep leaf spring. It's 13 1/4" long and 1/4" thick. The handle is straight gain maple. It's super sharp. What do you think?
I am glad you are swinging it, and not me. I used an old truck spring to make my first Bowie Knife more than 50 years ago. Its a clunk to carry, and tires your wrist when using it, too.
I think your knife will be a good meat cleaver in its present guise. You did nice work, BTW.
