Does anyone know of a Machine Shop that will do Custom Milling to make a small Steel Cannon? I have a 3" round stock piece of steel 22 " long and need it drilled to make a Cannon- just for noise and the 4th of July- The Great Pinyone

Any machine shop can drill you a hole in a piece of steel stock and you can fill that hole with black powder and it may even be safe. Or it could be nothing more than a pipe bomb.

Reference your piece of steel, what type steel is it, where did it come from? Not all steel is suitable for cannon making.

There is more to a cannon than a hole. Do some research learn how a cannon is made and what a cannon looks like first. Find some one who knows how to build a cannon safely.

I also think you should contact Dom Carpenter. Sadly, I'm not sure Dom is set up to work stock that big right now.

Here are a couple of others to contact:

It might be better-cheaper to buy direct from one of the cannon makers, instead of using your steel, especially if you don't know what kind of steel you have. It's going to cost you some money to send that 50 pound piece of metal to a maker and then get the finished gun sent back.

It would be good to know what grade steel
you have some are not as good as others
as they can work harden and become brittle.
