I finally broke down and got a bank debit card when I got tired of standing in long lines on nice days to pay for $5-6 of gas in a motorcycle. Just use it wisely to limit exposure to rip offs. YMMV

That means unless its a card with rebates you pay .25 or more per gallon and some debits have zero protection or perks. Everything today seems a game or worse gambling.

I pay ALL my bills with a check. Buy LOTS of things with CASH. Only problem paying cash for everything?
Pretty soon I run out of cash and have to go to the bank get more.
Used to get by with a $20. Not so anymore. What you used to get with a $20 now takes a $50 or more.
Lucky for me and mine, I've got enough to keep me and mine happy.
Some folks are BIG into on line banking. What happens when your PC takes a dump or your account gets hacked?? PC having issues? Say it isn't so.
I look and check to see if a check has cleared and I've been known to move $$$ around but my bank in ON TOP of it. If needed, copies of a cashed check are available.

What it comes down to is, It's YOUR money and what or how you do with is up to YOU!!
Got ****** around by a "couple" of Big Boy Banks. (screw the little guy) Only took once for me to take my $$$ and run. Took longer to think about it than me closing my account and hitting the door.
Sooner or later, somebody at the bank will ask "what happened to some of our loyal our customers"? (You mean me?) The one you tried to screw?? Went to Down The Road Bank where they treat me and my $$$ like a King.

The Mrs. is a retired Treasury agent and is the household CFO. She uses her card to pay for damn near everything for points. I still prefer and carry cash. When I go to use cash she says "Here, let me put it on the card for the points"

My wife is a skin flint. And after being married to her for 59 years, wouldn't have it any other way. I got the best of the deal. Her idea of spending lots of money is $20.00!! She's the reason we've got anything. My Mom always told me I spent $$$ like a drunken sailor.
Finally trained her to buy WHAT you want. You got the check book and there's CASH in the drawer. And you NEVER leave the house without CASH in your pocket!!
Need gas and your credit card won't work?? ATM on the blink? Car brakes and they won't take a check OR credit card??? CASH talks!! And I make damn sure my girls ALWAYS keep CASH on hand.
Only problem with giving CASH to my Grand daughter? She spends it too soon so I have to give her more. What am I missing here?
