Lathe turned wood canteens weren't common in the 18th or 19th century but they did exist. This effort isn't a copy of any original but was made "in the style of" the early pieces. The shell, front cover and stopper were turned from walnut. The spout was turned from curly maple. The escutcheon was cut and formed from sheet brass. The OD is 5-1/2" and it's about 1-3/4" thick. Should hold about a pint.
