Thanks to everyone for the advice on cleaning. Was just unsure as to keeping cylinder parts oiled yet not having the oil cause misfire at shootin time.
The 1858 was original. Bought the
U.S. Saddle bags and a relic piece was thrown in. I added an original lever, main spring, grip estueon, another barrel as old one has address removed and bore pitted, and a 2nd cylinder. Repro stuff needed was T. mech parts, T guard, all screws of which some were wrong. There was a fair bit of fitting too. Here is a pic. Not 100 percent, but good enough, and shoots good too.

Absolutely sweet!!! I love it when a good gun is brought back from the dead. Great job! :hatsoff:

Repro parts were from Dixie. A year after getting the relic there was an ad for original 1858 v.g. barrel, cylinder, mainspring, loading lever and grips for 220 on a Canadian site. I jumped on them. Replaced the barrel, spring, cylinder, grip washer,& lever I have on in the pic. The 2nd. grips did not quite fit so I kept on original pair, right good, the left is in 2 pieces with wide gap, but I will glue with walnut sawdust.Barrel did not quite index either. And this barrel address is Sept 14 1858 Illion N.Y.but has German silver cone foresight only 1 of 15,000 made.Original barrel at side of the pic, has address mostly removed.Original cylinder(it works)is at dise of pic too. No CS anywhere,I checked.
I'll order still more screws from Dixie, hopefully they're correct, or pick up some at local shows.
Previous owner has no history on this arm.I got it in Niagara Region. It is # 78,xxx matching. Replaced barrel now on arm is 19,xxx, has whole address and much better rifleing.
Saddle bags,I think, are 1879 model not civil war.
When I got this, it had frame, pitted barrel no address,1 grip in 2 pieces, cylinder&nipples, hammer and hand. All screws broke or seized and there was oxidation everywhere. I did what I did to get it going as original as I could, and have an address too.
