Guys I can’t ‘member where I read it, be it one of my lil books, or on the interwebs, but SOMEWHERES, and I believe it stated they were period, I saw what was called a “cap horn”. It took the form of a tiny powder horn, really just the tip of the beeve’s projection, who’s tip was bored out so that it could trickle out what else, percussion caps!! :thumb:

Well I thought to myself “ain’t that the damdist thing” and went on with my life. But after that day I can scarcely recall ever hearing about cap horns again.

Guys anyone know what I’m talking about???

i just ordered a buffalo horn to make one.Sure would like to see a picture or sketch. Sounds like a great idea, even if I have to dream it up myself.

I saw several at events in the eighties, primer horn size.
Historicly shortly after caps came in style powder horns started going out of style. The percussion eara was so short people didn’t get as much time tocomeuo withcute stuff.

Why did they not carry their caps in the container they were shipped in from the manufacturer versus making a horn to carry them in? Seems the original container would have been a lot smaller to carry than another horn.

I use an inline capper, like the one from Ted Nash. I am a hunter ergo I don't need more than 10 or 12 caps at a time, even hunting squirrels. I wear mine tired to a thong hung around my neck. Keep yer powder dry...…..robin
