Cartridge & Pistol Cap box ,RIGHT time period?

OK old timers, I was looking at some cap boxes and cartridge boxes on ebay, Civil War style in black, at a fair price. Would these look "correct" in a U.S. uniform pre1840's??? Of course I could have asked the seller, and he would say yes to anything to get them sold. So I'm asking you'all. Thanks abunch
