The homes near my place in Brooklyn, NY are all from the middle 19th Century (mine was built in 1847). Any time there is work done on them, some pretty old stuff comes out. Lead pipe is common.
The other day I passed a pile of wood that was being discarded. I took piece of what had been a joist. Pine.
Now I am turning it into a little shovel for removing ashes from a fireplace. A work in progress....

I know. Acorns on a piece of pine. Shoulda been cones.
