This probably shouldn't be here but I didn't know where to put it. Mods please move or remove as you see fit.

I am going to start a relief carving on bass wood. It will have the image of a muzzleloader in front of the words, Smoke On The Mountain. I am trying to figure out something for the background. Any ideas you guys can give would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Brian

good luck on basswood?! in my own experience basswood is too fibrous to get good carving out of-think pine only lots worse! now this is only in my own personal, extremely limited- experience but just a little heads up none the less

Basswood is the #1 'go to' wood for carvers. Like anything, there are qualities of wood from very bad to excellent.
I don't do much carving anymore but the best source anywhere, IMHO, is Heineke. http://www.heineckewood.com/index.htm

I'm with stumpkiller, wouldn't make sense if you had him any where else with that tag line.
