Yes indeed they are very young ferns with a tight compact head resembling the head of a violin. Usually harvested here in late April or early May. Go nicely with trout. Later in the season indian potato a.k.a. wild cucumber go well with fresh trout also.

Steaming fiddleheads is probably the best way. But I suppose you could saute them with butter too. Indian cucumbers are best washed and eaten raw.

That does'nt help much...never ate asparagas. Don't think I wanna try either, due to the last part of that word "gas". don't need none of that!

Well Blahman what can I say. If you want a culinary adventure and the bed to yourself for a night try some fiddleheads. Or you can eat some asperagas and play turtle with the Missus.
