How would you rate the Caywood Southern Mountain Rifle? I Have a 54cal Yorktown Rifle (Flint) and would like a smaller caliber.
Thanks for your help in advance.

My heart skips a beat each time I look at Danny Web-site. Wish he would do a Bucks County in .54 Cal.with a 44" Barrel.

Beautiful, well-made gun. I have seen them but not handled one extensively - have some experience with Caywoods however and wouldn't hesitate to recommend a Caywood product.

Danny does a good piece of advertising for them in the latest Muzzleloader Magazine. It's the "On The Game Trail" article. Seems like it would be a fine rifle, he kept mentioning how light it is.

Caywood guns, the Southern rifle among them, are semi-custom production guns, but they have the look, the styling, of good custom work. In my opinion, they achieve this better than anyone I can think of. Kiwi and Danny know what a flintlock is supposed to look like. All there stuff is a good buy if you don't mind others having the same thing. INMHO the Crocket rifle is the exception. Great rifle but wayyyyy pricey.

Bill, it was good to meet you at the CLA. I really enjoyed seeing the gun you had on display. It was impressive.I didn't know that there ever was a gunsmith named Bullard but since the other Newcomer turned up that's all rather moot now anyway.
