I came a cross a Remington copy 44 BP revolver at a gun show. It was marked Centennial and belgium only. No "Black powder only" marks either.

Looked fairly nice and the price was tolerable. Anyone know what it is? How old?

If memory serves... have seen many and owned some of these in 1860 Colt .44 .

However, do not remember there being a Belgium made Remington model which would have a top strap over the cylinder top fully enclosing the frame and an octagon barrel. Hopefully, someone else will post if I am wrong.

Mostly produced in the 1960's, maybe very late 1950's to very early 1970's.

These were very good Belgium quality and became too costly so production went mainly to Italy.

Reference books I have do not list either a Colt or Remington.

There was a Centennial Arms Co. in Chicago. By the time I bought from them in the very early 1970's all the Colts & Remington's bought were Euroarms marked and made in Italy. Do not remember if this company was the importer of the Belgium guns. Again, hopefully, someone else will post more info.

As mentioned above, Centennial Arms was an early importer, now defunct. They imported many of the early guns when black powder started it's resurge in the 60's. At that time, Belgium was the principal manufacturer of muzzleloaders until the Italian started up making black powder arms.

Thanks, you just answered a question on my mind the last few days. "Centennial Arms". :hmm: :hmm:

One of the gun Rags did an article about repro guns and made reference to Centennial. Probably very early 60's.

Are you sure this revolver was a Remington 1858 New Model Army or an 1860 Army? Please email me direct. Centennial made the 1860 Army in Belgium(usually marked on Butt) but I am unaware that they made the Remington in Belgium. Most other Centennial Replicas were made in Italy by Investarms, a well known shotgun maker. I am really interested in this pistol and the markings that might be on it. Did you buy it?

I have one of the Made in Belgium Centennial revolvers. It's the 1860 Colt type though, didn't know they made a Remington version.

There was a Remington copy and a Colt copy on the same table for sale. $150.00 each

I don't recall now which one was which. Its possible the Colt was the Centennial. I was considering buying both of them but I did not.

The "made in Belgium" part of the deal caught mt eye and on the way home I was wondering if I had not passed up a nice piece at a pretty good price.
