This may be directed at Claude, he mentioned it not too long ago but anyone with a favorite receipe can chime in, please. When I was growing up in Texas as a small boy, I remember my great grandmother, grandmother and yes even my mother making Chow Chow to put on beans and what ever one wanted. we always had a jar handy and if we ran out, didn't take too long to make a new batch. I used to have the receipe but can't find it and can't remember it. :hmm: Please give me/us the receipe for Chow Chow....Please...........thanks Harold

Harold,
I don't think it is what your looking
for but around my parts Chow-Chow is just fried up chopped cabbage with onion, salt and pepper added. You can also add diced apple(granny smith)
and raisens. :hmm:

Hey thanks Snake-Eyes I appreciate the recipe, like you said, not exactly what I was looking for, but gives me something else to try....sounds good.................Harold

I made the recipe from above link.Tastes great, easy to make. yielded 1 1/2 qts. would be best to put up in pint jars!
more of a sweet/sour relish.
I think adding some shredded apple and maybe some raisins would be good too!

I remember Mother makeing it. seems she put chopped green tomatoes in it also. along with small onions.
