Well, I finally got around to racking off my cider I made last fall, and it don't taste to bad, ifn' I do say so myself!
I put it in some green bottles that I had saved over the years for 'store bought' cider, and they are made of green glass. Which got me to thinking......

Does cider have to be kept in green glass bottles, as opposed to brown or clear bottles? I have never seen commercial made cider in anything but green glass.

Sorry if this is a bit of a stupid question....thanks in advance for any info.

Any fernented beverage should be kept in a brown or green container to keep the light out. This will help stop it from turning to vinager.

Yes dark colored bottles, store in a cool dark place. Treat it as you would a good wine.

I think ya oughtta keep'er in good ole Wyoming. send'er this way I would sure watch it fer ya

ayup- if you keep it in clear glass and the light gets to it, your brew will eventually 'skunk,' which is a bummer and a waste, and wasting beer (and, by inference, any other malted beverage) is an anethema unto God, who loves us and wants us to be happy, which is why He gave us beer (and, by inference, other fermented beverages).

the good news is that f you keep it in dark colored glass, it won't do that (but you should keep it in a cool, dark place anyway- i recommend the basement and it will get better with age. the bas news is that you'll have to drink it in order to find out exactly how much better it's become, and then it will be all gone. life is full of these little trade offs, i guess.

good luck with your project- relax, have a homebrew!
