I have a Colt Lightening and Thunderer, one is in fair shape and the other isn in good shape. I know the value of each, is between $350 and $450. What holds their value down is that they historically have mechanical problems with the design of the pistols and the lack of spare parts to repair them. These are both full functionally pistols.

Thought was to try to trade them off to Texas Jacks for a pair of Cimarron Remington 1856 Charcoal Blue 36 and 44s. I am looking for a dead even trade.

I am not going to shoot the Thunderer or Lightening as there are not parts to repair them and no gunsmith to make them.
Thoughts? Is trading them a not so good idea?

I have more interest in Remington's for line matches than safe queens.

You can buy the V-spring sets and most other parts are as good as most. I shoot my grandfathers Lightening in 38 long colt all of the time. I use 38 special brass with wad cutters. I have never had a problem with it but I bought a spring set anyway. Geo. T.

Yep that's my point...
From my copy of Firearms Price & Reference Guide 22nd Edition.
Without Ejector rod...Exc.$3000- V.G.$2000- Good $800- Fair $500- Poor $350

I would never trade them straight across...
