Who makes the best repo of the civil war rifles, from 1855 to 1864,I am collecting the handguns and would like to start on the rifles. any openions on which ones? thanks,,,chuck

The 2 most used rifled muskets used during the civil war was the British 1853 Enfield and the Springfield (in all it's different issues).
Armi-Sport and Euroarms are the 2 largest manufaturers of them. The choice seems to be a personal one between the two. Then you drop down to the other rifles such as the Witworth, the Harpers Ferry, Henry, Sharps, and many more.
By the way the Springfeild and the Enfied were used by both sides. If your into research there is lot out there on "weapons of the civil war".
GOOD LUCK

I think you'll probably find that the top 4 were the 42 Springfield or Harpers Ferry, The 53 Enfield, 61 Springfield and the Austrian Lorenz.
Armi sport make the closest to the original specs. No one except Loyalist Arms is making a Lorenz but that repro has several problems with it. All of them need to be defarbed to be correct but that is another story.
