I've never attended the CLA show in Lexington Kentucky.

Is there a lot of items for sale, or, mainly artisans showing off their creations?

If you have been before, please tell me what it's like.

The show is August 14 & 15, and, I am thinking of making the trek.

Thanks for any and all information, Skychief.

You'll get a ton of both  there's more merchandise than you can shake a ram rod at . It's like Christmas coming early ,of course you have to buy your on presents. :haha: I've been two times before this year will be my third trip. :hatsoff: I've never left disappointed .

smo hit the nail on the head. You won't regret going. My wife and I are going, and I can't wait to get there. I hope to see you and smo there!

It's not exactly a public show for selling stuff. It's called a membership meeting. You HAVE to be a member to get in the door. However, they are more than happy to sell you a membership card at the door. It'll cost you $20.00 for a temporary membership. It will be $50.00 the next year and every year after that. You will have to pay for any missed years that you don't go too. It's kind of a big deal. All the artists go but you won't see any of them wearing a beret or a smock. I went last year for the first time but I will miss it this year. I'm going to Alaska. They won't miss me I bet.

I will be driving down to Lexington tomorrow...can't wait. It really is a great experience if you love muzzleloaders and the history and culture. So many great artists displaying amazing work.

My wife and I are down here now and went to the show for a couple of hours today. Never been to this before. This shows just blows my mind! Unbelievable beautiful guns here! Going back in the morning again. Greg. :)

There are worse things you could do with your time than go tree rat hunting! I went back to the show with my wife on Saturday and found a 54 flinter that I just had to have so it is now back in Iowa with me! Great show. I have never seen that many beautiful longrifles under one roof before! Very talented builders/artist !!! Greg. :)

[/img] Sorry I just visited this thread again Skychief, it is a Cabin Creek Yorktown that I picked up there. Very nice piece. Very plain compared to the outstanding artwork that was on display there from many many talented builders that show there! Greg :)

I have to admit that when I bought this rifle I could tell it was a quality piece but I'm new enough to flintlocks that I didn't know about Cabin Creek and the fine reputation that they have earned over the years. This one is #16 and was built in July 1989. I kinda lucked into buying a very nice rifle there. Greg. :)
