Anyone have or built one of these rifles, thinking about trying one for target shooting in 40 cal with the 42" barrel, not sure of which size barrel to go with,13/16" is my initial thought, how's the quality of these kits, any suggestions or comments appreciated

I built a TOW percussion kit in 45 and am quite pleased. I did not like the buttplate, triggerguard or nosecap and built my own. I built the 42" and there is some wood to remove but everything was pretty closely inletted. They leave the wood intentionally so you have some extra meat to work with.

I suggest you pin them down on every part for it, as they are getting notorious for backording parts. I am building a Lancaster for a guy right now that waited almost 3 mo. for his lock & barrel & when his time came to build the rifle, I had to go elsewwhere & find a lock & barrel for him.

As for the barrel, go with that one as you want as light as you can get in a TN rifle as it will be muzzle heavy. I shouldered one a few weeks ago that a guy put a 36" barrel on & it was quite nice & surprising.

Birddogs right a 42" .40 is going to be muzzle heavy even in 13/16". The kit I obtained from a friend had a .32 cal.
42" 13/16" barrel but I built it with a 36" .45 cal. Made it 1 1/2lb. lighter. Balances very well now and shoots great.
