I use Bore Butter/LN1000 after cleaning my Flintlock barrel. What is the best way to
get all the Bore Butter out of the barrel for the 1st shot. I run several cleaning patches in the barrel and a small patch in the patent breech and still the 1st shot is usually a waste. For hunters the 1st shot must go and be accurate. Love my first flintlock, but I have much to learn about PRB/Flintlocks.

Thanks, xbowman

You might be getting too much out...the presence of some bore butter seems to give the similar effect of trace fouling in a bore...without the negative side effects of fouling.

When I finish cleaning/drying a bore, I heavily plaster NL1000 into the bore, several applications of it...then next time I'm ready to shoot, I run a single dry patch "down and back up" just one pass to remove any excess lube and that's it.

NOTE:
I sight in a rifle with a clean cold barrel for every shotr so the first shot is always dead on the mark...because generally, we're involved in a one shot game anyway...IMO the notion of a "speed-loader" is a little misleading.

On one hand, if the shot is true, the deer will be down immediately or within visual sight...no need for a second shot;

Or...even with a good shot, the deer may bolt out of sight through some trees/brush for 25-50yds making a second shot impossible anyway.

My two cents...
