This is a new one for me. I've been shooting and hunting with traditional for almost 30 years now, always removing the barrel and pumping soapy water through the barrel and soaking it bathtub. well I got modern and bought a T/C Black Mountain and put a Mueller 3-10x with See Thru Kwik Sites on it. Gun looks, handles, and propably shoots great,,,,BUT how do you scrub this thing out without taking the scope off?? I'm not comfortable just patching a barrel or scrubbing from the bore,,,any good tricks out there, I'm not thinking of? Don't really want to dump the scope in a bucket of soapy water!!! Ideas???

Before you get lynched by the modern everything hating bunch... :shocking:

Get a flush-nipple/hose attachement. Works excellent!

You will need the Flush Nipple, 1/4-28 thread, with tubing.
You can always add a longer hose if you like (I did). I use it on rifles with pinned barrels as well.

Or, I use Leupold QR or QRW (Weaver Style) quick release rings for my ML's with optics. I simply remove the scope prior to cleaning and then re-attach it almost always on zero afterwards.

As suggested, I would also flush the barrel and leave the scope on the barrel (or if you must remove the scope, go with Leupold Quick Release Rings). There are scope covers that stretch over like a sock and it will keep any spray off your scope. Most scopes are nitrogen sealed to prevent fogging, but still it doesn't hurt to keep it dry. :imo:

You should come to terms with cleaning the barrel in place. Lots of muzzleloaders have pinned barrels that don't pop out easliy. You don't need to immerse a barrel to clean it with water. Just a funnel and a leather glove to hold your thumb or finger over the nipple hole or vent, or a softwood plug.
