I would like to see the primary documentation for this.

How about the no-no version of same? It's all I have. :(

August 1, 1758 regimental order for the 31st Regiment of foot:
"No soldier to wash the Barrel of his Firelock in piss on any account."

Spence

There is a common derogatory expression used for people and things people don't like.

I care very much about my rifles and pistols so there is no way I would " pis$" on or in them.
Enough said.

I hear jackrabbit urine is the best there is, above all else. It will increase accuracy as well as, and if you use it regularly you will never lose another shoot'n match. You should definitely collect as much of it as you can, but it has to come from live jackrabbits. Once the jackrabbit is dead, it quickly degenerates into a corrosive and destructive substance.

I guarantee it will work. If it doesn't, I'll refund any money you gave me for the advice.

Jeeze, Louise! What navy were they in, the Swiss? Heard a lot of stuff when I was aboard but never that. I have read where it was an effective mouthwash first thing in the morning. I will take the historian's word for it. (George Washington might have benefited from it....or not.) Believe my grandad said it was used to fill water jackets on machine guns in WWI. He had first hand knowledge.

Aw, darn it! Now you guys got me to trying and I done got myself stuck. Figured my blunderbuss would be safe to try. And I'm plumb out of bear grease. Gonna be a long winter.

In a battle situation one would prefer to use urine than use up precious water from your bottle. However, firstly I would have run out even before the firing started and secondly take care pointing oneself at a hot barrel.....

One thing never mentioned by re enactors is that a genuine battlefield is occupied by thousands of very frightened people who cannot move away from their positions. I used to carry a plastic bag for times when in a dug in position.

Since urine is mostly water, urine would dissolve black powder fouling. However the salts present would lead to formation of corrosion unless washed out by clean water.

True. I have also read that urine can/has been used for browning barrels. I do believe it would work. Really dunno. Also dunno if that process would leave a lasting aroma.

It is said that urine was sometimes used . Just curious. It would be warm not hot, it would be free! Would it break down fouling? Anyone ever try it?

Nit Wit
I have read that urine cleaning was used in match rifles that have shot smooth and accuracy had dropped off. The salt in urine will etch up the glaze in the bore to supposedly restore accuracy. I've never used the technique to see for myself but would not be opposed to experimenting to see if it works should I ever encounter bore glaze issues.
I would how ever go out behind the shed lest any one see me taking a whizz down my gun barrel.

This cleaning with urine thing might have started with the C&R collectors who like to tell the story that the Russians used urine to clean their barrels because it removed the corrosive elements of corrosive primers. Probably not true! A Russian milsurp that has ever been cleaned is a rare thing. Most have ruined barrels.

When we were kids my grandmother from the old country,(Azores) use to put a drop or two of urine in our ears for ear aches. (don't know who's urine). Don't know if it help, but it should kept me from telling her that my damn ear's hurt anymore.

ACCORDING TO A BOOK DEVOTED TO THE 1862-4 SPRINGFIELD RIFLED MUSKET THERE WAS A PRACTICEOF PEEING DOWN THE BARREL IN ORDER TO INDUCE RUDT TO GIVE THE MINIE BAL SOME RESISTENCE ON ITS WAY OUT.
THIS WAS NOT CONSIDERED AS A PART OF THE CLEANINGPROCESS.
