I've got a project in mind and it is a club but fowler. I can get the lock I need (Davis, Chambers or L&R), fashion a but plate, bend up a fowler trigger guard to fit, but the barrel is another thing. What guage was commonly used and I would think it would be about 42 inches, maybe longer? Does anybody know?

I don't have much information on the old fowlers, but what I have indicates that bigger bores and longer lengths are better.

With that in mind, TOTW shows Colrain #Cole-Fowl-12, a 12 gauge 44 inch octagon to round barrel and Cole-Grif-12, a 12 gauge 42 inch barrel.
There are a number of other 20 gauge and .75 caliber barrels which might be suitable.
