Hi I'm Cody from galveston,TX I have just recently wanted to get into traditional blackpowder for hunting. I am currently in the research and saving for a lyman great plain rifle in either. 50 or 54 cal . For roundball. So I'll be lurking around here for a while Maybe even pop in and ask a few questions here and there. Anyways this seems like a place to learn alot from so see yall guys around. Thanks

Welcome from Oklahoma. Some people prefer the 54 as a dedicated round ball hunting gun.

That's what I was leaning towards. But seems like everywhere has them sold out. Hopefully they'll he available somewhere in about 6 months.

Welcome Cody, from the state of Nebraska. My SIL has a Lyman 50 cal, he purchased at a gun show for $200.00. The gun had very little use and is a winner for sure.

Welcome from Richmond TX. The Greenwood Longrifles should be pretty close to you. They shoot at Greenwood Rod and Gun, or some such place. Website can be found via Google. Might be someone there with something available, or at least talk to FTF.

Welcome! We went to Galveston. Stayed at the old flagship hotel. I guess it is gone now. My drunk friend would fish off the balcony. Ate some good seafood there!

Good to see some locals or Fairley close guys around. I have been only tried to squirrel hunt the sam houston national forrest this year and look for some pigs. No luck yet on either but I have been really close to hog a few times.. for now for hog I'll be using a bow till I get set up with my rifle. I bought to many toys this year so I have to slowly save for my rifle to make sure I don't get in trouble lol

Welcome, it’s a fun place and members willing to help. My father’s side of the family were one of the early Greek families to settle in Galveston. I spent a lot of time there with my grandparents and cousins. I remember Galveston fondly but it was a different island in the fifties and early sixties.
