Greetings from South Carolina. My first newspaper job out of school was with the Galveston Daily News. Galveston back then (late '70s) was a great place to be "young and immortal." Kind of Wild West back then. Left there to work for Gannet in New York -- the five longest years of my life. Ha!

Hi I'm Cody from galveston,TX I have just recently wanted to get into traditional blackpowder for hunting. I am currently in the research and saving for a lyman great plain rifle in either. 50 or 54 cal . For roundball. So I'll be lurking around here for a while Maybe even pop in and ask a few questions here and there. Anyways this seems like a place to learn alot from so see yall guys around. Thanks
You might check out the Lyman Deerstalker. Still has weight to help with recoil but a shorter barrel for walking in brushy areas. It probably won't work at a Rondy because of the rubber butt pad, The Great Plains or the Great Plains Signature Series will work for both, and you deal with the longer barrel.

Welcome Cody from another Arizonian! Spent some time in Abilene and Del Rio back in the seventies. The thing that impressed me about Texas is it is one of the friendliest states in the US! I'm new at this site as well just signed up. But I have been reading info for quite some time and you will find a lot of good ideas here!
