Pretty cool pictures! Brass springs no less …

By my read, the forward one provides rotational torque to the serpentine, whilst the other one applies torque to the sear lever, to keep it in the ‘raised’ position. Pulling the trigger would pull the sear lever down.

I thought that I had pretty much looked at everything on here about matchlocks in the last two weeks, then just now found this from a few months ago, posted by Flint62Smoothie. Fascinating!

Not coil springs, but here's something else from Flint62Smoothie that I really like. I want the stock on my matchlock to be like this one. The pic make me wish I had waited and got a round barrel for my build instead of the octagon one.
