I am refinishing a CVA Frontiersman carbine that was never really finished to any degree (from a kit) I would like to keep the barrel in a semi-white state so am planning on using a cold blue (Casey) and use steel wool or ScotchBrite to take it back to a gray finish. Do I need to remove the dove-tailed sights (front & rear) before I blue the barrel? TIA

Others might say yes but I don't think you really have to. I recently bought a CVA mountain pistol that was still in the white. When I blued it, I just took a few Qtips and dapped the blueing around the sights.
