I made this out of a 75 cent scrap of really heavy canvas I found at a rummage sale, and some stuff out of my scrap box. The buckle is a Brown Bess sling buckle, and the button is French. The leather flap is scrap home tanned dear hide. It is dyed with walnut hulls, and aged with moccasain grease and soot from the fireplace.

Thats a real nice bag got that been there look to it at least I think I'd carry it

You've inspired me to get off the dime and make my own Mark. That's excellent work!

One piece of advice you might be able to pass along. I had always figured to put tabs of leather inside the bag where the strap ends are attached, then sew through all three layers for extra strength. Hanging a little weight in yours (or probably a lot in my own), do you think I'm trying to solve a problem that isn't there?

Leather on the inside is probably a good idea. This canvas is about twice the thickness of normal canvas, so I decided to try it without. If it looks like it's going to be a problem I'll rework the strap attachment points.
