I have an 1889 Springfield with the cleaning rod bayonet, I've had many over the years but I'm keeping this oneI was way more interested in the Springfield 1884 in there. In fact I might go back and buy that! lol
That is exactly what I would load in it. Some kind of big grease groove bullet with a case full of black powder.I have an 1889 Springfield with the cleaning rod bayonet, I've had many over the years but I'm keeping this one
I won't shoot it until I can load BP 45-70 rounds.
If it’s a second generation it should be listed and can be verified by Colt. It’s about twice to expensive though…Does anyone know where to look to see when this was made? I was just kind of curious. Did some searching and Colt doesn't even list that SN on their look up. Thanks
Thanks you for the info! The 1860 Colt 2nd Generations were made up into the 212xxx serial number range. In 1982 Colt did a full page magazine ad on ending production of all 2nd Generation black powders with a limited run of stainless Colt black powder revolvers. I have an ad copy but misplaced it.
The stainless steel 1860 Colt was made at the end of 2nd Generation production and was the first stainless steel gun Colt ever made. Have and have had multiple stainless steel 1860's that were in the very high 211xxx to low 212xxx serial number range.
Therefore the subject gun which looks like serial number 210833 definitely appears be a 2nd Generation Colt. As Bad Karma posted from the Colt website "If your firearm does not appear in the listing, please understand that this is not a comprehensive database. ". Not listing 1860 number 210833 in the database is probably a record keeping error.
I agree the Colt is overpriced. At several recent gun shows two 1860 2nd Generations like new in original boxes with paperwork went begging at $650 to $750. Have not kept up on actual realized sale prices on websites like gun broker.
I think most the stuff in these cases are on consignment so they are stuck with whatever they owner wants to get. The shop actually has pretty decent prices on reloading supplies and new guns.Wow they got that knife below it priced at $175 too. Good lord!
Is a bit overpriced. Recall though that Ruger Old Armys recently went to a grand and more. I'm sure that will recede a bit, but, wow!The same exact gun by Uberti is $350, that gun is a Uberti with Colt stamps. No way is that worth $1200
