Something else that caught my attention on the Cimmarron Site is that the Paterson is offered with a rammer as an option. Was this so with originals? Or was it the next step in Col. Colt's revolver technology?
Thanks,
Don

Colt added the rammer assembly in 1839 though one reference I saw said that this one didn't actually reach The Texas Rangers until '42. Jack Hays was real happy about it because he could now reload without getting off the horse.

Thanks for the history answer mec, I have only seen Pattersons with out rammers. I can imagine the jubilation over not having to leave the saddle to re-load. Getting off your horse is plain humiliating.
:hatsoff:

Okie's didn't used to neither. I never could figure out how to build rifles on horseback though. :)
