After the Civil War General Thomas L. Kane was presented this pistol by surviving members of his military staff in 1866. Those who are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints probably already know about General Kane and will certainly be interested.

Very nice. I can read the Colt Patent on the frame. The grips appear to be Ivory, do you know?

The grips are ivory and in great condition--not sure what kind of ivory but may be walrus ivory. Don't have the elephant ivory pattern.

Beautiful piece in it's simplicity and condition. It is a bit surprising, given it was a gift to a General, that it has no decorative engraving whatsoever.
